As regular classes in Natchitoches Parish were coming to an end in May, Lakeview’s Air Force Junior ROTC cadets received notification of their award for the Distinguished Unit Award, which recognizes them as a top unit of the 950 Air Force JROTC units worldwide. This year’s award is the 5th year in a row that Lakeview’s Air Force JROTC unit has garnered the top award for meeting all of its established goals and meeting critical suspenses issued by their Headquarters.
The cadet corps was also busy during the month of May in planning and conducting a 3-Day Curriculum in Action Trip to Arkansas (May 24-26). The main focus of the trip was to visit the President Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock and conduct a leadership exercise on the Ouachita River in Oden. Lakeview’s top 50 cadets were chosen to participate based on their achieved rank and performance for the school year.
Lakeview’s cadet leadership utilizes a positive behavior system throughout the school year to recognize cadet achievement and rank each cadet based on their performance.
