“Battle on the Banks” at Midsummer Night on the Cane set for June 25

The “Battle on The Banks” lip sync competition will be held as part of the Second Annual “A Midsummer Night on The Cane” Sunday, June 25 at Maglieaux’s Riverfront Restaurant.

The event is a fundraiser for the Natchitoches Jazz/R&B Festival. Last year’s event was a huge success and the Jazz Fest Committee wants to make this year even MORE fun.

The committee came up with the idea of the lip sync contest after seeing Jimmy Fallon do them on his show. It usually involves Fallon taking on his celebrity guest, and much fun and hilarity always ensues.

The committee thought how much fun it would be to have a “battle” of lip sync teams from local banks and financial institutions. Here’s how it will work:

There’s a $250 entry fee for each team, which will provide admission for up to five team members. The $250 lip sync entry fee may only be used for team members. In other words, if a team only consists of two members, the entry fee will still be $250 and the team will receive only two tickets to the event. Admission to the event is $50 per person.

Teams are required to lip sync to one song, which will be approximately three minutes long. Have fun with this and feel free to use costumes, props, or anything else to enhance the performance.

Each performance will be judged on originality, showmanship, choreography, and just plain how fun and entertaining it is. Last year’s event was a big success and a lot of fun and the committee feels the addition of this lip sync contest, it’s only going to be better.

Event organizers need to know this week, if possible, the song teams have chosen, and, if possible, the members of the teams.
