NSU makes seats available in Demon section for visits to Louisiana Tech, Grambling

Anticipating a pair of intriguing neighborhood rivalry games opening the 2017 Northwestern State football season, Demon fans can now purchase seats in the NSU sections for visits to Louisiana Tech Sept. 2 and Grambling on Sept. 9.

Assistant athletics director Mike Jacklich, who runs NSU’s ticket operations, said Monday afternoon that sales have begun for Demon fans who plan to attend one, or both, games in Lincoln Parish.

Customers can log in at NSUtickets.com to purchase tickets or can call the NSU Athletic Ticket Office at 318-357-4268 to reserve seats in the NSU section for either or both games.

Purchased tickets will be provided to customers once Louisiana Tech and Grambling make their own single tickets on sale later this summer, said Jacklich.

Season tickets for the Demons’ five home games in Turpin Stadium, starting Sept. 16 with the Southland Conference opener against Lamar, are also on sale.

A limited number of reserved tickets are available in the NSU section for the Louisiana Tech game at $30, while GA tickets in the Demons’ section are on sale for $25.

Tickets in the NSU section for the Grambling game are all general admission and may be purchased for $35.

There are no handling fees, unless the tickets need to be mailed, which will be done only via certified mail for $5, said Jacklich.

The Sept. 2 game at Louisiana Tech in Ruston will be the second this century between the long-time rivals. The Demons posted 20 fourth-quarter points three years ago and scored a 30-27 victory over the Bulldogs in front of what was at the time the third-largest crowd in Aillet Stadium history.

NSU’s visit to Grambling will be the third meeting between the programs in the last decade, and only the fourth all-time. Each team won at home in a series in 2008-09 after the G-men, coached by the legendary Eddie Robinson, won 14-13 in the inaugural matchup in 1974 at Independence Stadium.

Former Demon assistant coach Broderick Fobbs is the Tigers’ head coach. Grambling won the 2016 Southwestern Athletic Conference and HBCU national championships last year.
