Rotarians and community members receive awards

Rotary Club of Natchitoches presented volunteers for its recent Bulletproof the Blue event with awards at its meeting June 20 recognizing their efforts raising $10,000 to purchase new bullet proof vests for officers at the Natchitoches Police Department. Rotarians on the event’s planning committee were also presented with Paul Harris Fellows Awards.

Community volunteers who received awards included Natchitoches Parish Journal Editor Corey Poole, and Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Chief Jesse Taitano.

The Club awarded Rotarians David Guillet, Bridget Briley and Past President Ronald Corkern with Rotarian of the Year Awards.

Rotary District Governor Cindy Cespiva presented Rotarians Tom Matuschka and Hurst Hall with a Paul Harris Fellow Pin with one sapphire. Cespiva presented President Fred Terasa with the Club’s Presidential Citation Dashboard as a momento.

Terasa presented Rotarian Van Erikson with a “Rotary Serving Humanity” Coin. Rotarian Jimmy Berry received the Rotary International Avenues of Service Award.

Rotarians Jessica Broadway and Kendell Perkins received Distinguished Service Awards for Board Excellence. Rotarians Phil Habig and Dr. Larry Burke received Distinguished Service Awards for Entertainment Excellence. Rotarians Calvin McFerrin and City Marshal Randy Williams received the Distinguished Service Award for Committee Leadership.

Terasa honored Anthony and Janet LaCour with a Certificate of Appreciation for their excellent catering. He also honored Hall Adams with a Certificate of Appreciation for the NSU Recreation Complex and their outstanding support.

Rotarians Darrell Hickman and Josh Manuel received the Distinguished Service Award for Committee Leadership. Rotarians Louie Bernard and Steve Crews received the Distinguished Service Awards for Committee Leadership. Rotarians Rick Harrington and Jimmy Berry received the Distinguished Service Award for Member Development
Rotarians Mike Newton, Gary Hatch, Bob Gillan, Bridget Briley, Father Frank Fuller, Ron Mayfield, and Joe Henry received the Distinguished Service Award for Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) Development.

Rotarians Joe Pierson and Richard White received the Distinguished Service Award for Committee Leadership. Rotarian David Zolzer received the Distinguished Service Award for Member Development.

Rotarian Arthur Welch on left received the President’s Award for Selfless Service to the Club. Rotarian Don Mims received the President’s Award for attracting two new, young members this year.

Rotarian Barb Duchardt received the New Member Award. Rotarian Merlin Squyres received Rotary Club Service Awards for himself and Sherry Recer.
