Individually and as a group, the Northwestern State women’s tennis team found itself in a familiar place – on the ITA All-Academic Team.
The Lady Demons placed seven of their eight players on the team, which requires at least a 3.5 grade point average for the academic year.
NSU’s individual honorees included Polina Ivanova, Polina Mutel, Emilija Dancetovic, Judit Castillo, Kateryna Avram, Vladaslava Litvinova and Elisabeth Gerasimova.
As a team, Northwestern State posted a 3.75 cumulative GPA, which earned them an ITA All-Academic Team distinction. The award honors teams that produced at least a 3.2 team GPA.
NSU’s seven squad members gave it the highest total in the Southland Conference and tied for the most produced by a Louisiana team (ULM). This marks the second consecutive year NSU has placed at least six players on the list.
“We are extremely proud of the way our girls continue to excel in the classroom,” assistant coach Patric DuBois said. “The way they consistently compete for championships on the court and achieve such high accolades in the classroom is a tribute to each of our players who show the discipline, time management and hard work to achieve these honors.”
