A Natchitoches woman wearing her seat belt avoided serious injury in a single-vehicle crash on Hwy. 119 south of Derry July 29, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

NPSO Patrol Division deputies, State Police and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to 911 reports at 12:21 pm of an overturned vehicle on Hwy. 119 near Kerry Loop south of Derry.

Deputies say 42-year-old Billy J. Sires-Gauthreaux of Natchitoches was traveling northbound on Hwy. 119 operating a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck when she claimed a small animal crossed her path. When she attempted to avoid the animal she apparently lost control of the vehicle leaving the roadway on the right side overcorrecting causing the vehicle to overturn.

Gauthreaux was treated at the scene by EMS for minor abrasions and released without transport.

Troopers assigned to LSP Troop-E worked the crash.
