The past three weekends in September, eight Lakeview baseball players and one player from Saline have played in a Fall League Hosted by Centenary College. This Fall League is an independent league coached by the Centenary baseball players. Games were on Saturdays since Sept. 9. The team has played three games. Their first game was against 2A Gary, Texas at LSU of Shreveport. A quality club from Texas, Lakeview fell short in the competition losing 12-6. The second game was played against 5A Southwood of Shreveport at Loyola in Shreveport. Lakeview came away with the win 6-2. This past weekend, Lakeview played a team composed of players from different schools from around the Shreveport area at Centenary College. Lakeview came away with another win 4-3. The next and last game of the league is Saturday. Time and place are to be announced.

Coach Gannon presented the players with information about the Fall League back in August. “I was really surprised by the amount of guys that wanted to play,” he said. “This league has put eight of our guys against some quality competition and they have handled it well. It has also given our guys not only the opportunity to play quality competition but to play in front of the Centenary coaching staff. They are receiving instruction from the players that I may not have been covered with them over the past two years or things I have covered but it’s just good for our guys to hear it from other players that are at the next level. I’ve been at each game as a spectator, and I am seeing a lot of good things that I hope roll over to this spring. I am looking forward to this season when we have all of our team together.”
