NPSO deputy inducted in Texas High School Hall of Fame

Canyon High School in Texas inducted Merry-Johnson Byers in the Canyon High School Sports Hall of Fame Oct. 20.

Merry Johnson-Byers, graduated in 1978 after winning multiple state championships in basketball and track. She also is a national record holder in track and currently a deputy sheriff in Natchitoches Parish.

Chief Byers supervises the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office Community Services Division which oversees Natchitoches Drug Court offenders, Domestic Violence, Families in Need of Services, Truancy, Juvenile Drug Court, and Holiday Food Baskets.

Congratulations Chief Byers in your induction in the Canyon High School Sports Hall Fame.

Chief Byers participates in the yearly NPSO physical fitness incentive and tests potential new hires on physical endurance before entering the training academy.

Chief Byers; her husband Louis Byers, Director of Operations for the Elite Radio Group; and their family live in Natchitoches.
