First Grade students at NSU Elementary Lab School completed an exciting and interactive unit on bats. Students read nonfiction text and focused on identifying the main idea and key details in the text. Later in the week, students wrote an informative writing using bat facts they learned which included diagrams and illustrative pictures. The unit ended with students participating in a Bat Cave day where students used flashlights and mock caves to mimic bat’s habitat.
