NHF announces its Christmas Tour of Homes locations – Part 2

 

The Natchitoches Historic Foundation proudly announces the sites for the 2017 Christmas Tour of Homes available to visitors. Focusing on the expression of the Christmas season, all of the sites for the 2017 tours are located in the Historic District. Each day, the sites showcased are in walking distance of each other.

FRIDAYS, December 8 and 15 – 5-8 pm
“Houses Along Poete”

Scott Corner House – (circa 1900) – 104 rue Poete
In classic Creole style with West Indies influence, this three story raised plantation house has a double gallery, lower level brick columns, and hipped roof. The decor includes nearly 300 pieces of pottery imported from Poland, and Clementine Hunter art and relics. Approximately 30 trees decorated for the season adorn the period décor on the first and second floors of the Scott Corner House. (Owners are Dr. and Mrs. Dan Seymour)

Jefferson House – 229 Jefferson Street
Located along the Cane River Lake in the Natchitoches Historic District, this colonial style home was built in 1967 by Jules Barre. The Jefferson House, a historic district bed and breakfast, is decorated with traditional holiday fare, and is also available as a rental venue for parties and weddings at other times during the year. Recently renovated, this property is decked out to celebrate the season in fine Natchitoches style. (Owners are Mr. and Mrs. Paul Salter)

 

 

 

Cunningham Cottage – 305 rue Poete
The Tudor revival (Norman) cottage is decorated with more than 100 nutcrackers collected over the years, representing a variety of literary, classical music, professional, and trades characters. A German pyramid complete with candles and revolving nativity scene is traditionally on the dining table. Homeowners of Cunningham Cottage will regal visitors with stories of Christmas traditions both in the United States and Europe. (Owners are Mr. and Mrs. James Akin)

Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum 1–4 pm

Visitors with a Saturday Tour wristband will have complimentary access to the museum.
