Over 100 runners started their Christmas Festival Activities on a speedy note early Saturday morning, Dec. 2, at the City of Lights 5-K race, run on the picturesque NSU campus. The race is the first event of Festival day and has, over the past several years, become a community tradition. Alliance Compressors fielded a 24 person strong contingent, all in matching uniforms. The race is hosted by the Northwestern State University Track Team and the proceeds are used to help fund the athletes’ activities throughout the year. In addition to the local runners, the event has also attracted some of our out of state visitors. Ms. Niki Rachal of Charlotte, North Carolina, is visiting with her husband and turned in a celeritous time for the race of 23 minutes and 20 seconds. The

Natchitoches Parish Journal is donating the race photography. The album is open and anyone may download all they wish. If you do take a photo, please consider a donation to the scholar-athletes of the NSU track team.
