City Councilwoman Sylvia Morrow was issued a summons in lieu of an arrest Dec. 18. Natchitoches Police Department officers responded to Walmart at 8:21 am and issued Morrow a court summons for Jan. 23 for a misdemeanor theft (less than $100).

The ones on here with all the negativity, should just shut up. If Ms.Morrow did in fact committ a crime, she will be held accountable by a higher judge. I can’t understand why would she return back to the store, to return merchandise. Seems like a set up. She isn’t the only person in Natchitoches that should retire, or has dealt in wrong doing. Alot of things are swept under the rugs. It’s all a matter of who you know. Everybody knows when you speak up like Sylvia has done in the past, you will not be liked. She speaks out on subjects that most of yall talk about amongst yourselves, but won’t dare speak out in public. Tell me the ones insulting this lady, when was the last time you prayed? When was the last time you did wrong? What’s the difference between you an her? Stop casting stones!!! Ok, let’s get rid of her, an who do yall propose should be the next to go? Because their is a long list of them? Who should take her spot? An when writing on here, don’t use the phrase “These or Those people”. Yes, I am Black.
I do believe that anyone we elect to public office should be trustworthy. If I remember correctly, this is not the first time we have heard Ms Morrow’s name in a negative manner. But theft? And she doesn’t feel any embarrassment or the need to resign. I am not perfect, never claimed to be, but I guarantee had I done this I would not want to show my face in public again. My parents, my children, my constituents would not be making excuses for what I had done. If you do wrong, have the guts to stand before God & community, apologize, then resign!
It’s amazing and FUNNY how so many people have so much to say like they’ve NEVER sinned or committed a crime. Is what she done right.. No. Should she be punished?? Of course, but we all have skeletons in our closet, she just happened to get caught when the rest of you were lucky enough to get by!

I know Nat-town isn’t the smartest city on earth, but I am appalled by the amount of Morrow apologists on here. She is pure trash, and anyone who supports her is not much better.

Don’t think that they did her a favor by issuing her a summons for theft under $100. It would cost more to jail her than what the city will receive in fines. I would imagine that is a standard procedure when you know she will show up for court or know where she will be on the 2nd and fourth Monday of every month. Also if you think getting rid of her will make everything great again, be careful, any district that re-elected her after being kicked out of office for embezzlement is not going to elect someone any different.

I agree with you Matt! If it would have been anybody else they would have had to be bonded out of jail which is where this woman needs to be. This just shows it depends on who you are and who your friends are.

Most all shoplifters are cuffed and walked out and banned in front of the officer. In retail for 30+ years I’ve seen hundreds walk out to jail. Can’t remember how many went to jail,but in that time I only let two walk. One was a old homeless man that was just hungry l paid for what he stole plus more food and some socks. The other had condoms and was so ugly he didn’t need to reproduce so on the promise to use them I let him go.
why wasn’t she arrested ? why Is she still employed by the city ?
Not a lawyer but I don’t think they can fire her because she is after all an elected official. I think she can be ask to resign but that will never happen. Not sure what it takes to remove her.
