Heat the Town: Near tragedy has happy ending for Natchitoches family

From Nov. 30-Dec. 20 AxsomAir took nominations for “Heat the Town,” the second annual program run through volunteer time from AxsomAir Technicians and support from Lennox as well as Solar Supply and Acme Refrigeration (local supply wholesalers). AxsomAir is very excited about the success of the program!

“We were able to reach out and give back to some folks with real needs,” said AxsomAir Manager Josh Axsom. “We were blessed to help others with the gift of heat through repair work.”

But the program took an unexpected twist when Josh Axsom responded to a call on Watson Drive. He said he met Marshall Holmes, who showed him where his old furnace had caught on fire! Marshall told him he was really glad he had been home and smelled something burning. Marshall explained he had run outside and unplugged the unit before any damage occurred to the house!

Josh said he soon realized there was no fixing the furnace and with the family on a limited income purchasing another was out of the question.

Josh got on the phone with Bob Nally, Territory Manager with Lennox, and explained the situation. Bob was eager to help and sent the family a brand new furnace for free!

AxsomAir’s Pro Installation Team Colby Leach and Kerry McCormic were quick to help out by installing the new unit and insuring proper and safe operation for the family!

“We are so glad we were able to be there for the Holmes family,” said AxsomAir GM Matthew Axsom. “We are also so happy the house was spared from fire and now the Holmes family will be comfortable in this cold snap! We want to thank the community for their assistance in helping us find needs we could help fill with ‘Heat the Town.’ We look forward to doing it again next year!”
