The City of Natchitoches Portable Park program will begin operation May 1 so get ready to get active with fun games and activities for the whole family. Earn prizes, get healthy, meet your neighbors, or get your own Portable Park shirt by signing up to be a volunteer!
Portable Park is part of Ready, Set, Go: the City’s initiative to improve the health and wellness of residents. GO outside and play with Portable Park, which offers games, exercise equipment and activities for free that are lead by Coach De.
Each week features a different fun-filled theme. This year there’s more water events, more toddler toys, large board games and other fun activities. “There’s something for all ages,” said City Youth Program Coordinator De’Andrea “Coach De” Sanders. “We’ve got games and activities for people from 2 to 92.”
The Portable Park will also offer a new incentive program this year. Kids will receive a shoe bracelet to collect charms on each time they attend one of the Portable Park events. “Follow me across Natchitoches from park to park to collect them all to earn a prize,” said Coach De.
Compete against your friends or team up to play group games! Activities and games include yoga, archery, tether ball, bocce ball and KOOB: The Viking Game (a fun outdoor game for both kids and adults).
“I’m excited about the amount of kids we’ll get to see at the parks this summer,” said Coach De. “Portable Park keeps growing and I’m getting to know the regulars who enjoy coming back each time we set up in their neighborhood.”
