With the restructuring of schools for the 2018-2019 school year, the L. P. Vaughn School of Fine Arts will relocate to East Natchitoches Elementary and adopt the new name East Natchitoches School of Fine Arts according to the program’s director, Danny Von Kanel.

Established four years ago, the School of Fine Arts provides lessons in art and music using a variety of instruments. The program has plans to add dance and sculpture/pottery for the upcoming year in addition to 12-14 possible fine arts courses. While the school can include students in grades 3-12, the majority of students have come from 3rd, 4th , and 5th grade. Relocating to the East Natchitoches campus will give the greatest number of students an opportunity to participate. Plans are in place to have 3rd and 4th graders that enroll walk over with staff from the M.R. Weaver campus for the after school lessons.

Students who enroll will receive a $150 scholarship towards the cost of lessons, with a $30 individual cost per student. Registration will begin in mid-November, with the school operating from January to April on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 pm.

For additional information regarding registration and fundraising opportunities that will be coming soon,  please call (318) 352-4515.  Mr. Danny Von Kanel is the director of the East Natchitoches School of Fine Arts. Ms. Chrystal Davis is the principal of East Natchitoches Elementary School. Mr. Dale Skinner is the superintendent of Natchitoches Parish School District.
