The Northwestern State volleyball team is looking to go bigger and better for its annual Fall Demon DigFest, set for Aug. 11 at the recently renovated Point Place Marina.

Five open spots remain for teams who want to participate in the one-day event that remains the largest fund-raiser for the Lady Demons squad. Proceeds from the event, which will include food and a live band, support scholarships, travel costs and more for the NSU program.

Play will begin at 8 a.m. and encompass all of Saturday as the event celebrates its ninth season. The marina is located at 1209 Patrick Road, just south of Natchitoches.

Teams can feature up to six players with entry fees running $100 per team. Teams can register and add a current NSU volleyball player for $125. Banner sponsorships are available for $150.

“We are looking forward to expanding the DigFest to 12 teams,” assistant coach and tournament coordinator Stacey DiFrancesco said. “This is such an important event for us, and we are thrilled to see it continue to grow and gain a foothold in the community.”

Northwestern State opens its 2018 season on Aug. 24 against Texas Tech in the Red Raider Classic in Lubbock, Texas. Four days later, the Lady Demons host Jackson State in a 1 p.m. match for their home opener.
