After having one of best offensive seasons in recent NSU history, senior forward Brittany Caserma has been selected to the All-Southland Conference Preseason Second Team, chosen by the league’s coaches.
Caserma scored eight goals as a junior, the most in a single season at NSU since Chelsey Gibbs scored nine in 2009.
Two of Caserma’s goals came in a three-minute span to top Incarnate Word on the road, one of NSU’s two SLC wins in a 6-12 (2-9 SLC) season.
The Murrieta, California, native ranked third in the SLC in goals scored, earning a spot on the All-SLC Second Team in 2017.
She received an automatic spot on this year’s preseason team.
NSU scored 34 goals this past season with Caserma accounting for eight of the 16 goals from players who are returning.
Caserma’s eight goals in 2017 is tied for eighth-best in NSU history, and her 16 career goals rank 10th in Lady Demon lore.
NSU plays an exhibition at Little Rock on Saturday before opening the regular season at home against UTSA on Aug. 17.
