It was back to school time at Natchitoches’ First United Methodist Church as the congregation hosted two events to kick off the upcoming school year Sunday, August 12th. Each of the day’s three services featured the annual tradition of the “Blessing of the Backpacks” in which students of all ages brought their backpacks and devices to the front of the church. Each student was presented with a tag for their backpack, after which the congregation prayed for a safe and successful school year.
The day’s events concluded with a Back to School Bash in the Family Life Center. This event featured an inflatable castle, face painting, snacks and games. Over 100 happy children and their families enjoyed an evening of family fun and fellowship.
