Tropical Storm Gordon moves toward Louisiana area

Tropical Storm Gordon continues to move northwest towards Louisiana, Mississippi, the Alabama Gulf Coast, and the four- states region. A locally heavy rain threat could begin impacting portions of our area by late Wednesday, and continue through the end of the work week.

Tropical Storm Gordon is forecast to move from the southern tip of Florida
northwestward to the Central Gulf Coast by Wednesday. The storm will
produce showers and thunderstorms over parts of Southern Florida that will
move northeastward out over the Eastern Gulf of Mexico overnight Monday.
By Tuesday morning showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of
the Eastern/Central Gulf Coast with heavier rain moving onshore over parts
of the Central Gulf Coast overnight Tuesday. The heavy rain and
thunderstorms will move inland into parts of the Lower Mississippi Valley
by Wednesday. Check the latest advisory from the National Hurricane
Center for the latest track and intensity of Gordon.

A front over the Northern High Plains will move southeastward to the Upper
Great Lakes/Middle Mississippi Valley into parts of the Southern Plains by
Wednesday. Showers and thunderstorms will develop over parts of the
Northern Plains overnight Monday moving eastward to Upper Mississippi
Valley and the Northern/Central Plains by Tuesday morning. The showers
and thunderstorms will continue to move eastward to the Upper Great Lakes
into the Middle Mississippi Valley into parts of the Central/Southern
Plains by Wednesday. In addition, a warm front extending from the Upper
Great Lakes westward into parts of the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley
will lift northward into South-Central Canada overnight Tuesday. Showers
and thunderstorms will develop along and near the boundary from parts of
the Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley eastward into the Great Lakes into
parts of the Northeast will likewise move northward into Canada by Tuesday
evening.

Meanwhile, upper-level energy over parts of the Central Gulf Coast into
parts of the Southern Plains will slowly move northward into parts of the
Central Plains by Tuesday afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms will
develop over parts of the Southern Plains eastward into Lower Mississippi
Valley/Southeast will continue over parts of the Central/Southern Plains
through Wednesday. The showers and thunderstorms will end over parts of
the Lower Mississippi Valley overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
Additionally, tropical moisture over parts of the Ohio/Tennessee Valleys
into parts of the Mid-Atlantic will aid in producing showers and
thunderstorm over parts of the region with the greatest areal coverage
during the late afternoon into the late evening on Monday and Tuesday.
Elsewhere, monsoonal moisture and daytime heating will aid in producing
showers and thunderstorms over parts of the Southwest/Great Basin and the
Central/Southern Rockies through Wednesday. The greatest areal coverage
of the showers and thunderstorms will be during the late afternoon into
the late evening on Monday and Tuesday.
