Cane River Creole National Historical Park is pleased to announce new operating hours beginning in the upcoming weeks. New hours of operations for both the Magnolia Plantation Unit and Oakland Plantation Unit of the park will go into effect on Monday, Oct. 1.
The new hours will be as follows:
• Magnolia Plantation Buildings and Grounds: Daily, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
• Oakland Plantation Building and Grounds: Daily, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
In addition, the buildings and grounds of Oakland and Magnolia will be closed on all Federal Holidays beginning in October.
Currently, operating hours at Magnolia Plantation Unit and Oakland Plantation Unit are different at each site, which has resulted in some visitor confusion. “Visiting hours are established based on the availability of staff, to ensure an enjoyable and safe visitor experience, and to ensure adequate protection of park resources. By streamlining and standardizing the hours of operation between the two sites, we hope to increase the quality of the visitor experience,” Park Superintendent Carrie Mardorf said. New signs will be posted at both sites once the change is in effect.
