Natchitoches Parish President Rick Nowlin entered into an agreement with IBTS for the provision of services of certified building inspectors (CBO) while the Parish is without a full-time Planning and Zoning Director.

Larry Walters of IBTS in northwest Louisiana visited with the Parish Council at a special called meeting Oct. 1. IBTS is a non profit nationwide company that aids local government to relieve the burden on them. IBTS is the building official of the City of Campti. He said they’d be willing to work with the Parish with the existing permits and inspections to make sure they go through. He also presented them with a fee schedule and proposal that he said is probably cheaper than the Council might imagine. IBTS keeps the prices low because they’re dedicated to helping local governments solve problems.

CBO Dean Runnels of Logansport started working at the Parish offices Oct. 4. Assigned parish employees will be able to load applications into software that Runnels will be able to access while he’s performing inspections in the field.

Nowlin assures residents that the permitting process and fees will remain the same. Anyone with questions can call 318-352-2714.

“We’re keeping things rolling and getting everything back to normal,” said Nowlin.
