Les Amis Christmas Treasures Craft Sale-15 Years of Helping the Community

By Kevin Shannahan

The 60 members of Natchitoches’ Les Amis organization hosted their annual “Christmas Treasures” fundraiser at the Natchitoches Events Center Saturday, Nov 17th. Over 1,000 people attended the popular sale, now in its 15th year. There were 40 booths featuring crafts, locally made items and artwork of every description. Santa himself came to visit, much to the delight of the children, and children at heart, present.

The Les Amis are a local group of civic minded women who do a great deal of good in our local community. The funds they raise at this sale and at other events have been used to assist the Women’s Resource Center, St. Jude’s, EMS Workers and the Natchitoches School’s “Pack the Bus” event to provide children with school supplies among other philanthropic endeavors. The Christmas Treasures sale was an opportunity to shop with local vendors and help make our community a better place at the same time.
