Young at Heart group meets at FUMC

FUMC-Jan Young (1)

The Young at Heart group met at the First United Methodist Church in Natchitoches on Jan. 2 for a meal and program. The decoration theme was “Snowmen,” by the Bostick Bradley Circle of Methodist Women. The program featured Dr. Nicholaus B. Cummins director of choral activities at Northwestern State University and chancel choir director at First Methodist. After an interesting program of Elvis show tunes and love songs he sang, the attendees were offered a Poinsettia to take home. Celebrating his 90th birthday this month was Hyland Packard. He also celebrated a 64th anniversary with his wife Sophie. The group meets monthly on the first Wednesdays at noon at 411 2nd Street.

  1. Young at Heart has been meeting for over 50 years, and yes it is open to anyone. We have many faiths, no faiths, guests from council on aging, and folks 50 and older from across the city and parish. First Wednesday is a good time for getting out for a lunch and program, to just socialize. Happens to meet at 411 2nd street, First Methodist.

  2. All are welcome. First time guest are free, others bring a side dish, meat is furnished, also dessert is furnished. $3.00 if choosing not to bring dish.
