L.P. Vaughn students meet officers and their K-9 partners

Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force Agents and Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers visited with Pre-K and Kindergarten students at L.P. Vaughn Elementary School. Agents spoke with students and answered questions about how K-9’s help them in their line of work. The students also got to meet K-9 Officers Misty and Bessi. In addition to seeing where Misty and Bessi ride in the patrol cars.

Misty is a 6 year old Belgian Malinois, and has been with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office for 5 years. During those 5 years Misty has helped get numerous drugs off the streets of Natchitoches Parish. When Misty is not at work, she is at home with her handler and family.

Bessi is a 4 year old German Shepherd and has been with the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office for almost a year. Bessi trained in several different areas such as:

Narcotics Detection
Area and Building Searching
Fugitive Apprehension
Crowd Control
Obedience

In the short time Bessi has been with the Sheriff’s Office, she has helped Deputies in tracking, and getting drugs off the streets.
