(CAMPTI, LA) On Friday morning March 15 at approximately 10:28am, Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, Natchitoches Parish Fire District #9, and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to reports of an alleged bomb threat at Lakeview High School in the 7000 block of La. Hwy 9 north of Campti according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones Jr.
A NPSO School Resource Officer was on campus.
Natchitoches Parish School Superintendent Dale Skinner, the school principal and other school personnel were all notified of the incident.
Bomb Threat protocol was followed along with the school being evacuated and placed on lockdown.
A thorough search of the school by deputies, firemen and school personnel did not find any credible sources of a threat to students or faculty.
Sheriff’s Investigators along with Detectives assigned to the NPSO High Tech Crime Unit immediately began investigating the incident and within one hour had forensic and digital evidence linking a possible suspect to the bomb threat according to Chief Investigator Greg Dunn.
The unidentified person of interest has been detained while the investigation and arrest is forthcoming according to Dunn.
Digital evidence has been seized in the investigation.
There were no injuries; school was resumed shortly after 12:00pm.
Additional information will be released as the investigation unfolds according to Sheriff Jones who commended the High Tech Crime Unit detectives swift investigative work that led to a person of interest and all of the law enforcement, firemen and ems that responded to assist and insure the safety of Lakeview School students, teachers and staff.
Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division, School Resource Division, Criminal Investigations Division, High Tech Crime Unit, Natchitoches Parish Fire District #9 and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to the scene to assist Lakeview High School officials.
