Northwestern State pitcher Samantha Guile was named the Louisiana Pitcher of the Week by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association, the organization announced Tuesday.
Guile, who already picked up Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week honors, went 3-0 in the circle as the Lady Demons (18-16, 9-3 SLC) won all four games this past week.
Guile totaled 14 innings with just one run allowed on seven hits in three appearances (wins at Grambling and two against Southeastern Louisiana).
The Bossier City native entered the Grambling game this past Tuesday with the bases loaded and no outs trailing 3-2, and she got out of the jam unscathed en route to three scoreless innings.
Guile pitched a three-hit complete game in which SLU scored just one run in a 6-1 win Friday before she picked up another relief win Saturday in the series finale, pitching the final four innings without a run allowed in the 10-inning victory.
She struck out 12 batters with just four free passes on the week.
Guile (6-7) pulled into the team lead in wins and lowered her season ERA to 2.91.
NSU’s last Louisiana weekly pitching award was earned by Mikayla Brown in 2017. Brown has three such honors in her career.
NSU, which leads the SLC through four series, heads to defending regular season champion Nicholls for a three-game series.
The Lady Demons take on the Colonels in a Friday doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. before a Saturday finale at noon.
