Natchitoches Parish DC Corrections Officer and Natchitoches man arrested on contraband, narcotics charges

Agents with the Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force arrested a Natchitoches Parish Detention Center Corrections Officer and a Natchitoches man on contraband and narcotics charges.

According to Task Force officials, agents were notified on April 2 by administrative staff at the DC that they had Correctional Officer Zachary Parker in custody for attempting to introduce contraband into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center.

NMJDTF agents along with the Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General and NPDC administrative staff had been investigating Parker after receiving complaints. During his detention Parker advised NPDC staff that he did have a package in his vehicle that he was going to bring into the facility. NMJDTF agents obtained a search warrant for Parkers vehicle where agents located a tightly wrapped package which contained tobacco, synthetic marijuana, and high grade marijuana.

Zachary Allen Parker W/M 25, was arrested at NPDC and charged with:

Malfeasance in Office
Introduction of contraband into a penal facility

After further investigation, on April 25, 2019 NMJDTF agents arrested one Jeremy Armstrong B/M 35 of Natchitoches for his involvement in the introduction of contraband into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center. Armstrong was charged with the following and placed in NPDC with no bond:

2 counts Distribution of CDS I (Marijuana)
2 counts Principal to Taking of Contraband into a Penal Facility

The investigation is ongoing with more arrests to come.

The NMJDTF would like to thank the multiple agencies that assisted in this investigation which included the NPSO High Tech Crime Unit, Natchitoches Parish Detention Center and the Office of the Inspector General.

NPDC Administrative staff would like to remind citizens that giving money transfer account numbers such as Green Dot, and Wal-Mart money services to inmates is usually used for illegal activity such as payments for illegal contraband and could lead to criminal charges. Inmates can receive money via approved websites and on premises of NPDC. For further information on sending money to inmates at NPDC please contact the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center at 357-9300.

The Natchitoches Multi-Jurisdictional Drug Task Force would like to thank the Citizens of Natchitoches for their support. Many times an investigation begins with a simple phone call or tip from a concerned citizen. For this reason the Task Force encourages all citizens to report any crimes in their neighborhoods anonymously by calling 318-357-2248, The Natchitoches Police Department, or the Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Office.
