UPDATE: WOODYARD DRIVE WILL REMAIN CLOSED UNTIL REPAIRS COMPLETED

The City of Natchitoches would like to advise the public Woodyard Drive between Quida Street and Abbie Drive remains closed to all traffic due to repair to a sewer line in the area.

This section of Woodyard Drive will be closed until these repairs are complete. The City of Natchitoches would like to encourage motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution around the construction site.

For questions relative to this closure, please call the Mayor’s office at (318) 352-2772.

  1. A large number of folks use Woodyard Drive and Fish Hatchery Road. Right now I know of three choices to avoid the construction: (1)a shortcut over a rutted field, (2) a rough, dirt road through a trailer park, or (3) the south end of Fish Hatchery Road which is almost impassable. None of these routes will handle traffic should we get rain. Perhaps the church located at the site of the closure would allow traffic across their lot with a promise from the City and Parish to repair any damage once Woodyard is reopened. It might be considered a Christian thing to do to assist their neighbors. Normally when roads are close the authorities publish alternate routes, but there has been no information other than the road is closed and there are no detour signs unless they went up last night.
