Natchitoches’ Krewe of Excellence brought a most welcome bit of Mardi Gras spirit into the heat of summer Saturday, June 1 as they named their royal court for the 2020 Mardi Gras season. The krewe was joined by visiting krewes from all over Louisiana as they crowned King VII, Cloyd Benjamin, and Queen VII, LaQuita Shree Harris Collins.

The fun event featured past royalty from the Krewe of Excellence and visiting royalty from other krewes. The night’s emcee, Ralph Wilson, introduced the 2020 Royal Court one by one, culminating with the entrance of the 2020 King and Queen VII. The royalty were given their crowns, sashes of office and royal goblets. The King, Queen and royal court led the visiting royalty and guests in a second-line through the room at the conclusion of the ceremony. The crowd then joined the court in a fun party for the evening. The Natchitoches Parish Journal wishes the Krewe of Excellence and its Royal Court a fun filled and successful Mardi Gras season in 2020!
