Saturday morning’s Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Junior Training Camp brings together 300 boys and girls with state sports legends, thanks to the support of the Natchitoches Regional Medical Center.
The event runs from 9-11 a.m. at NSU’s Webb Wellness and Recreation Center gymnasium and the adjacent football field at Turpin Stadium. Boys and girls ages 6-16 who have preregistered will participate free of charge in activities also sponsored by the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. -318-238-4255.
The camp is held annually on the morning of the LSHOF Induction Ceremony. It features involvement and coaching from Hall of Fame inductees past and current, along with NSU and local coaches and student-athletes, providing instruction in sport skills and motor skills, along with an emphasis on healthy lifestyle choices and education.
Among the 2019 Hall of Fame inductees who will participate are NFL great Peyton Manning, former LSU football coach Les Miles, former Tigers All-American Max Fugler, five-time USA Olympic volleyball star Danielle Scott, and Canadian Football League Hall of Fame quarterback Matt Dunigan.
