Twelve-year-old Kate Perkins attends NSU Middle Lab School. She recently competed in the nationwide finals for the North American Junior Bible Quizzing on July 20-25 in Branson, MO. She and her teammate Nathanyel Smith placed 4th out of the 90 teams in their division. Nathanyel was also named as a Runner-up Quizzer of the Year.
This year the study was on Apostolic Doctrine. In the Junior Division the quizzers memorized 281 verses selected from throughout the Bible. The verses were chosen to give a broad overview of the Biblical foundations of the doctrines of the Apostolic church.
Kate competes in the Junior Division of Junior Bible Quizzing. Junior Bible Quizzing is a ministry of Children’s Ministries of the United Pentecostal Church International. Kate and her family attend church at New Life Evangelism Center in Natchitoches. She competes on a team sponsored by the Pentecostals of Alexandria. Her coach is Neyesha Elliott.
Kate’s team competed in the Louisiana District State Finals at Grace Church of Central on June 21. They won second place in that tournament. Kate received a trophy as the Highest Scoring Quizzer for the tournament. She was also named Louisiana Junior Bible Quizzer of the Year.
This was Kate’s fourth year of Junior Bible Quizzing. Next year she’ll move up to the Intermediate division. There will be 419 verses to memorize all from Psalms.
