The East Natchitoches School of Fine Arts will begin fundraising the first week in August. Fundraising will consist of monetary donations as well as a “Live and Silent Auction” on November 7. This year’s auctioneer will be Joe Solomon. The location of the auction will take place in the East Natchitoches Elementary School gym.
The auction will depend upon small and large items donated by area businesses as well as individuals and groups. Larger sponsorships by area businesses and corporations will go toward funding the $10,000 minimum need for the school. The East Natchitoches School of Fine Arts is held at the East Natchitoches Elementary School at 1001 East 5th Street, Natchitoches. All fundraising will end after the auction on November 7.
As in the past, students who register will receive a $150 scholarship with their cost being a one-time fee of $30. Students will choose one of twelve classes offered in drama, dance, keyboard, art, guitar, flute, trumpet, drums, trombone, violin, clarinet, and viola. Classes take place on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, and Thursday’s from 3:30-5:30 from January-April 2020. The fine arts school is open to all 3rd-12th graders in the Natchitoches Parish School district.
Danny Von Kanel, the administrator and director of the School of Fine Arts says, “Our school offers a unique opportunity for the Natchitoches Community to help provide fine art education to interested students. With community support of the auction and sponsorships, students will expose themselves to the arts, many for the first time.”
Had the privilege to have my granddaughter exposed to music through Mr. Von Kanal. He cares about arts and wants every child to have the opportunity to be exposed to them. He is excellent for the school district.
Is there any contact information to find out more about the classes offered?
