The Natchitoches Police Department is currently investigating a one vehicle crash that claimed the life of a young woman early Friday morning.

At approximately 3 a.m. on Aug. 9 the Natchitoches Police Department received several calls in reference to a fire in the median on Interstate 49 near mile marker 132. Additional callers advised it appeared to be a vehicle on fire.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on I-49 when it left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree causing the vehicle to catch fire.

Officers with Natchitoches Police Department and Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office as well as firemen with the Natchitoches Fire Department and Fire District 6 arrived on scene and found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Tragically the driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Breanna Legier of Pineville, received fatal injuries resulting from this crash.
