Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Deputies were on the scene of a reported shooting in the 800 block of Weaver Cemetary Road near Chestnut in north Natchitoches Parish according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones.

Last night at approximately 8:17pm, the NATCOM 911 Center received 911 reports of the shooting.

Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division arrived on scene in 19 minutes.

One person has been pronounced dead on the scene by the Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office.

One person has been taken into custody by deputies.

Names are not being released at this time.

Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Detectives, Natchitoches Parish District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS, Natchitoches Parish Coroner’s Office and Life Air are on the scene.

Detectives are currently processing the crime scene, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses according to Chief of Investigations Greg Dunn.

Sheriff Jones said we are in the early stages of this investigation, we will release further information as it becomes available.
