Hope for Paws Tenth Anniversary: Ten Years of Rescuing Dogs and Still Going Strong!

Natchitoches’ Hope For Paws recently celebrated its tenth anniversary Saturday, August 17. A festive crowd of over 100 pet lovers and their dogs gathered at a local establishment for an evening of canine related fun and fundraising. One of the most popular attractions was a booth in which dogs had their paws dipped in paint to put the finishing touches on some artwork by “paw-painting.”

From its humble beginnings ten years ago, the organization has grown to over 25 volunteers dedicated to rescuing dogs and finding them “forever homes.” The volunteers, often with the help of community organizations like the Boy Scouts, foster, adopt, and transport dogs to be adopted out of state. Hope for Paws also has a program to assist new dog owners with the cost of having their dog spayed or neutered. Over the years Hope for Paws has been responsible for 450 dogs being adopted by local residents.

The organization has done a great deal of work to make our parish a better and kinder place. If you would like to get involved, donate your time and/or resources, or, above all, adopt a dog in need of a home, please contact Natchitoches Hope for Paws at their Facebook or website.
