Agenda for August 26 City Council Meeting

Natchitoches City Council will have a pre-council meeting on Monday, August 26 beginning at 5:00 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m. to discuss non-agenda items. The City Council meeting will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. The public is invited to both the pre-council meetings and council meetings with the understanding that items not on the agenda will not be discussed at the scheduled council meetings, but the public is welcome to discuss any topic at the pre-council meetings. The City Council Meetings are held at the Natchitoches Arts Center located at 716 Second Street, Natchitoches, Louisiana. Please be advised due to renovations at the Natchitoches Arts Center, 716 Second Street the City Council meetings will be held at the City of Natchitoches Municipal Building, 560 Second Street, Natchitoches, Louisiana beginning June 2019 until further notice.

  1. I see no rational reason to not allow Dr. Methvin to have a dentist office at that address. The building is adjacent to a bed & Breackfast(business) numerous B&B’s across the street(all businesses) Edward Jones office across the street(another business) A dentist office is not a drive thru, there will be minimal traffic coming to and fro. Scarborough has multiple business and St. Clair has more traffic than that section of Williams. The propoerty backs up to the Car Wash and has lost value as a residence. It seems to me that people such as Ms. Maroney need to find better uses of their time than keep a Dentist from being able to provide a neighborhood service.

  2. I like many others have been active opponents to the rezoning of 219 Williams Avenue for a dental office. Dr. Methvin was given an extension by the Council one month ago. Those of us who have openly and diligently opposed this rezoning have attended multiple scheduled meetings over the last 2 months to do so. I do hope the City Council acts accordingly in agreement with both the Planning & Zoning Committee that denied the request and the numerous neighbors in opposition.
    It is time to FORMALLY and FINALLY put this matter to rest by voting NO.
