Natchitoches resident receives ‘Heart and Soul’ Service Award

Longtime Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Foundation board member (former board VP) Sharon Gahagan received the Louisiana Association of Museums’ Lois Wyatt Bannon “Heart and Soul” Service Award at the LAM convention luncheon in her hometown of Natchitoches. The honor recognizes an individual who has contributed significant time and expertise in support of a Louisiana institution, or institutions, enabling them to prosper in the local community. Sharon has been tremendously impactful for the LSHOF as a leader on its board, and on FLASH (Friends of Louisiana Sports and History), the local support group for the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame and Northwest Louisiana History Museum. Jennae Biddiscombe, branch manager of the museum and an LAM board member, presented the award to Gahagan.

Sharon has also served for several years on the Louisiana State Museums board. She is constantly finding ways to help the Hall of Fame and many other wonderful causes, including her leadership role on the board for the Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts.

  1. Sharon is a jewel. Natchitoches is so fortunate to have her tireless devotion. Congratulations Sharon. Well deserved recognition. 👏⚜️🏆😊

  2. I would repeat Philip’s thoughts and add that she has also contributed to countless groups and organizations other than sports (museum) without recognition including many hours working with and for Natchitoches Central High School. Ms. Sharon has been gold and silver and a shining light for Natchitoches, asking nothing in return.

  3. Mrs. Sharon is a great woman, truly deserving of this honor. She has given selflessly of her time and energy to this community for so many years. Natchitoches has a true gem here.
