Kevin’s Gallery – Parade & Pep Rally

Northwestern State University held its Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally Friday, October 18. A throng of cheering NSU fans lined the streets along the parade route from campus to the riverbank to support the Demons. The Homecoming court was joined by costumed students from the various organizations on campus riding in a parade of floats that stretched for blocks as they tossed candy, beads and prizes to the crowd. The parade’s destination was a packed downtown riverbank amphitheater where the festivities continued with a presentation of the court, spirit group performances, a concert and fireworks show.

Gameday itself was packed with activity. Student groups held reunions, several of NSU’s colleges recognized distinguished alumni and NSU’s superb tailgating provided its usual combination of fun for all ages and superb food. The Demon Volleyball team was Cato to McNeese’s Carthage, dealing the visiting Cowboys a decisive defeat in a Saturday morning match.

Saturday’s gridiron action started at 6:00 as the Demons took the field against the University of Central Arkansas Bears. It was an action packed slugfest with the Demons coming up just one point short in a 31-30 loss that went down to the final minutes of the game.
