Connie Ann Khoury has been a real estate agent for half her life. Now at Rhodes Realty in Natchitoches, Connie fell into the life of an agent.
While finishing up her last few hours toward a psychology degree at Northwestern State University, Connie was thinking about attending a school in Dallas. Before this could happen, her best friend’s mother Martha Deblieux talked Connie into coming to work for her Realty company doing property management.
Connie didn’t want to get stuck in a 9-5 office job, so the casual environment and flexible hours of a real estate agent were enticing to her.
“I actually get to use my psychology degree in my job,” she said while smiling. “Buying a home can be a big moment in many people’s lives and you’re there to help them through it. You spend a lot of time with them, riding around in cars and becoming friends. Real estate puts you on a much more personal level with your clients than any other kind of service job.”
Connie really enjoys selling to repeat clients and getting referrals. It’s about relationships, trust and loyalty. Repeat clients and referrals let you know you’ve done good by them and that makes you, as the agent, feel good in return.
Going the extra mile is something Connie isn’t afraid of, although it can be quite the challenge sometimes. Whether it’s helping with painting, making improvements to pass inspections, or any other number of odd jobs, Connie is willing to do what it takes to make the deal work.
“It’s not just about the money,” she said. “Some things make a bigger impression. You’re working for your client, not yourself.”
Connie was born and raised in Natchitoches and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School. She attended LSU before returning home. She served on the Natchitoches Board of Realtors for several years before it merged to become the Greater Central Louisiana REALTORS Association.
As for advice, Connie thinks first time home buyers shouldn’t let themselves get overwhelmed.
“Take the plunge,” she said. “You’ll be happy once you do. There’s so many programs to help you. It’ll be the best decision you’ll ever make. Just take care of your credit because it’s more important now than it’s been in the past.”
In her spare time, Connie enjoys spending time with her husband and family, traveling, attending music festivals and Tiger football.
She has most recently obtained the title of Broker and will be serving Rhodes Realty as an Associate Broker and Team Leader at the Natchitoches Branch. She is beyond excited to continue to assist the community she loves in this capacity.
