Curiosity led Regina Burton to learn the ropes and become a real estate agent. Since becoming licensed in 2011, she’s found a true passion for helping people realize their dreams of owning a home. She is an agent at Rhodes Realty in Natchitoches.
“I’m a people person,” said Burton, who’s been a business owner in the accounting field since 2008. “It seemed like a natural progression from accounting to being an agent.” In both fields it’s all about servicing people.
A Natchitoches native, Burton graduated from Campti High School and attended Northwestern State University. Being a part of this awesome community is one of her greatest pleasure.
As an agent, Burton sees how hard it can be for people to understand the home buying process. It can be daunting and a lot of people don’t pursue their dream of owning their own home because of this.
She recommends that anyone looking to buy or sell a home should find an honest agent, someone who isn’t afraid to tell their clients they’ll get the answer if they don’t know it.
“I want to help them and share my knowledge,” she said. “I have a lot of patience and it can be hard to find people who are willing to explain a process in detail and sometimes their fear keeps home buyers from starting the process.”
Burton’s favorite part of being a real estate agent is seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they realize they can have a piece of that American Dream. Their eyes light up and, as an agent, it makes your day. “My clients are important to me. The relationship goes far beyond just finding that perfect home.”
On the flip side, it can be challenging as well. An agent must make sure he or she gives their clients accurate information and this requires a lot of research and staying up-to-date on everything.
“I will never let myself get comfortable,” said Burton. “I’m always looking for more knowledge to share with my clients.”
But Burton doesn’t look at real estate as a job. It’s a venture; something she likes to do. This comes from her family’s love and passion of traveling. They travel often and one of their favorite places to travel is Japan where her husband’s brother lives. She also loves to entertain family and friends with large house parties and lots of dancing! Burton has been married to Gerald Burton for 32 years. They have two girls: Kandi and Ashley Rose.
