LSMSA seeks applicants for Executive Administrative Assistant (Civil Service Administrative Assistant 5)

The Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts, a selective admissions, residential high school for Louisiana’s gifted and high-achieving students, seeks to fill an executive assistant position starting in February 2020.

This is a full-time, twelve month classified position and includes all the benefits of state employment. The successful applicant’s primary responsibility will be to perform a variety of professional tasks and offers support to the school’s Executive Director and Chief of Staff/Director of Administration. General responsibilities include managing the front office; providing administrative assistance to the school board of directors; and anticipating areas of service across the school’s community at large. To be successful in this role, the assistant must be well-organized; have great time management skills; be able to act without guidance; and maintain discretion at all times. Ultimately, the assistant will contribute to the effectiveness of the school by providing executive services which are professional, personalized, and timely.

LSMSA, recently listed within the top 1% of American’s Best Public High Schools according to, is a residential high school, is publicly funded as a state agency, and is tuition free. The highly selective admissions process is open to all gifted and high achieving rising 10th and 11th grade students in Louisiana. On average, students enroll from 70% of the state’s parishes (counties). Founded in 1983, LSMSA is located in Historic Natchitoches.
