Happy Wednesday Stylers! Lousiana’s biggest holiday is upon us, Mardi Gras. And you can’t have Mardi Gras without balls. When the Mardi Gras season comes, that little black dress just won’t do. Long sleeves are trending right now, along with transparent dressing for the backs, and some beadwork on the shoulders, rhinestones, and modern styles. Some people are no longer look for prom-ish gowns. Red carpet looks will be showing up all Mardi Gras season. Just think of your favorite celeb going to the Grammys. Expect to see bright colors and bold designs. It wouldn’t be a Mardi Gras ball without drama. Yellows, reds, neons with all the extra details that’s on there so it creates that luminescence. Alterations are the best way to personalize your dress to your style.
“Don’t let the dress wear you, you wear the dress!”
Once you pick out the perfect gown finding accessories and shoes is just as important. Small details can take your look to the next level whether it’s your bracelet, earrings, or bag. You want to make a statement for the ball. If your gown is simple I suggest choosing a bag or clutch that stands out, something that will capture people’s attention and add to your look. Ladies, one of my biggest pet peeves is looking at these beautiful gowns and then the hairstyle throws the whole look off. Everything needs to flow from the top of your head to your toe polish.
For my guys, don’t worry. I didn’t leave you out. I tell guys all the time, “Every well dressed man should have a tuxedo in their closet.” I purchased my first one maybe 5 years ago and it was the best investment EVER! I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with a suit but a tux is always classy. Men are no longer letting women steal the spotlight. More men are embracing new fashion trends and are becoming concerned about what they’re wearing and how they can make a statement. Adding a fun vest that may match the Mardi Gras theme is a fun and easy way to add personality to your tux. If you really want to switch things up, ditch the shirt and tie and go for a turtleneck. Whatever you wear, just wear everything with confidence.
