Students in an English II GT class at Natchitoches Central High School got a taste for another culture. Jack Nicholson, Kaylee Fredieu, Jace Parks, Koda Deblieux, Bethany Milner, Colton Conley, Brenden Cooper, Sophia Gruesbeck, Anna Catherine Coleman, Luke Robertson, and Mae Dodd enjoyed a bowl of akamu, a Nigerian dessert, as part of their study of Chinua Achebe’s novel Things Fall Apart. Akamu (also called pap or ogi) can be made from fermented corn or corn starch and lemon juice, and is topped with sugar and cream. Ms. Thompson’s English II GT class gives akamu and Achebe a big thumbs up!
