Logan Hofmann’s strong start to the season has been rewarded.
Hofmann was named Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday morning, honoring him for his performance against Eastern Illinois on Feb. 28.
League sports information directors awarded Hofmann after the junior right-hander from Muenster, Saskatchewan, tossed eight shutout innings and struck out a career-high 11 in a 3-0 win against Eastern Illinois. He scattered four hits and did not allow a runner past second base to win his third consecutive start.
It is the first career award for Hofmann, who ranks among the national leaders in ERA (0.00, T-1st), wins (3, T-2nd), WHIP (0.48, 8th) and strikeouts (29, 23rd).
The Demons are in action tonight at Southern for a 6 p.m. first pitch. They return home Friday to open Southland Conference play against Abilene Christian at 6:30 p.m.
