Northwestern State’s Roberson wins Southland Conference Player of the Week

Northwestern State guard Jairus Roberson is the Southland Conference Player of the Week as voted by the league’s sports information directors.
Roberson helped the Demons to a 2-0 week with this sharp-shooting abilities, making 9-of-19 from 3-point range.

The DeSoto, Texas, native scored 19 points in a 95-73 win against UNO and 23 points in a 100-85 win at Central Arkansas.

Roberson was the leading scorer in both wins as NSU (14-15, 11-9 SLC) locked up the No. 5 seed in the SLC Tournament.

NSU plays No. 8 seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the opening round on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Roberson has made 77 3-pointers, which ranks fifth all-time in NSU single-season history. He’s made 38 percent of his long-range attempts.

Roberson, who set every 3-point record at Trinity Valley Community College, is averaging 12 points this season.

The weekly award is NSU’s first season in men’s basketball.
