New Superintendent for the Natchitoches Parish School District stopped by the Feeding Program location at the MLK Recreation Center Tuesday morning, April 21. He helped distribute several meals to parents and expressed his appreciation for the people who are putting in the work to man the location. On this day, the workers included a bus driver, School District employees from Weaver Elementary and LP Vaughn, and community members volunteering their time.
“You’re the most important people in Natchitoches Parish right now,” he said. “You’re feeding the children. “It almost makes me emotional how this this community is coming together.
Any child who is 18 years of age or younger is encouraged to pick up prepackaged meals that include breakfast and lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9-10:30 am. Meals will be enough for more than one day. Staff will be available during these times at each feeding site.
Parents can simply drive through for pick-up, or children can walk to the feeding site. They do not have to be with a student at the school to receive meals. For more information email closurequestions@nat.k12.la.us.
The following sites will have meals every Tuesday and Thursday, except for Creston Baptist Church. They will receive meals for 5 days on Tuesdays.
