The Natchitoches Fire Department received a call Thursday, April 30 reporting a fire that started on Front Street in the early morning hours. Natchitoches Fire District 6 responded to assist and firemen began battling the flames that engulfed two downtown businesses: Mayeaux’s and All Tangled Up. Surrounding shops and some upper level apartments received smoke damage, but no one was injured. Water from Cane River Lake was funneled up the riverbank to combat the fire, which caused the roof over the two businesses to cave in and destroyed the interiors. The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the cause of the fire. No further information is available at this time.
