
The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) voted Monday, July 13, to prohibit high school football games until Louisiana enters phase 4 of the Louisiana Department of Education’s K-12 re-opening guidance, which was released June 25.
Below is how sports seasons will look under Phase 1, 2, 3, and 4 according to a chart published by WAFB-TV:
Phase 1:
Practice: Not allowed for any sport
Intrasquad Scrimmage: Not allowed for any sport
Interschool Scrimmage: Not allowed for any sport
Game Play: Not allowed for any sport
Phase 2:
Practice: Cross Country, Swimming, Volleyball are allowed
Intrasquad Scrimmage: Cross Country, Swimming, Volleyball allowed
Interschool Scrimmage: Cross Country, Swimming allowed
Game Play: Cross Country, Swimming allowed
Phase 3:
Practice: Cross Country, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, Wrestling are allowed
Intrasquad Scrimmage: Cross Country, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, Wrestling are allowed
Interschool Scrimmage: Cross Country, Swimming, Volleyball are allowed
Game Play: Cross Country, Swimming, Volleyball are allowed
Phase 4:
Practice: Cross Country, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, Wrestling are allowed
Intrasquad Scrimmage: Cross Country, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, Wrestling are allowed
Interschool Scrimmage: Cross Country, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, Wrestling are allowed
Game Play: Cross Country, Basketball, Football, Soccer, Swimming, Volleyball, Wrestling are allowed
Maybe 2-3 MAYBE! People in Louisiana don’t listen very well.
We should be able to enter Phase 4 on November 4th.
