DISTRICT ATTORNEY BILLY JOE HARRINGTON RE-ELECTED TO EXECUTIVE BOARD OF LA. DISTRICT ATTORNEYS ASSOCIATION

The Louisiana District Attorneys Association announced that District Attorney Billy Joe Harrington has been re-elected as a member of the LDAA Board of Directors.

As a board member, Harrington will work with newly elected LDAA President District Attorney Bo Duhe along with other board members to provide insight and direction on issues, legislation, and policy affecting criminal justice in Louisiana.

“As this year has been challenging in so many ways for everyone in Louisiana, public agencies must adapt and improvise to continue serving the constituents. District attorneys’ offices throughout Louisiana have worked with our clerks of courts, judges, law enforcement, public defenders, and local government leaders to ensure that the court system operates safely and efficiently,” said District Attorney Harrington.

Harrington added, “We will continue to stay vigilant in doing our part to lessen the potential spread of COVID-19 by utilizing all safety and protection policies at the courthouse and also encouraging all citizens to wear a mask and stay socially distant.”

The LDAA mission statement is to “improve Louisiana’s justice system and the office of District Attorney by enhancing the effectiveness and professionalism of Louisiana’s District Attorneys and their staffs through education, legislative involvement, liaison, and information sharing.”

The LDAA supports district attorneys, assistant district attorneys, investigators and staff in providing continuing training, education, and community outreach. The association also focuses on public safety, crime victims’ assistance, promoting highway safety, child support enforcement, pre-trial diversion, domestic violence prevention, and juvenile justice initiatives.
