Parish Council learns of potential grant for Creston Water System, important meeting on July 21

The Natchitoches parish Council held a brief teleconference meeting on Monday, July 20. Parish President John Richmond informed the Council members that the Payne Subdivision Streets Project (Phase 2) has begun and is scheduled to be completed in less than 90 days.

He also informed the Council, and wants the public to know, that the Creston Water System MEMBERSHIP will hold a meeting on Tuesday, July 21 at 6 p.m. at the Westwind Boat Launch, located at 321 Westwind Church Road in Campti.

The purpose of the meeting is to elect a new board of directors. There MUST be 51% of the MEMBERS in attendance to vote.

“I know we’re not in the water business,” said Richmond, however he said this meeting is really important because there’s a large grant, that would also aid the Sandy Point Water System, to the tune of $3.4 million. This hinges on a vote of the people that are in that water system so it’s imperative that they show up so there’s a quorum. It’ll be held outside so there’s plenty of room for social distancing.
